Remember 9/11

by Mandy on September 11, 2011

9/11 Memorial{source}

Today, we remember.

Today marks an anniversary, but one of a less than happy occasion.

Ten years ago today, the lives of nearly every American changed ~

in an instant.

In an horrific act by misguided and angry men, thousands of lives were taken and the course of history changed. No longer did America feel like the untouchable nation. Suddenly we were vulnerable, we were damaged,

…we were broken.

As the wife of a soldier, we still feel the ramifications of that horrible day. Families who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001, still grieve for them today.

We will never forget.

Through our grief, our sorrow, and our confusion over the 9/11 attacks, it is important to always remember that God was still in control that fateful day, and He is still in control today. We may not understand, but we certainly can trust. And we can continue to pray for the healing and salvation of our nation, as well as the world.

God bless America!

Strength for Service

by Mandy on November 20, 2010

I was recently contacted and asked to make all my military friends aware of this great devotional  – Strength for Service. This book was written with those in service of others in mind.  In honor of Veteran’s Day the Strength for Service devotional is available for a free download through tomorrow, Sunday, November 21, on Amazon. {I’m not a big promoter of Amazon these days, but it is a free download…}

“One million copies of this book were distributed during World War II and the Korean Conflict before it went out of print. In 2001, a young Eagle Scout successfully got the book republished. Since then, more than 400,000 copies of the book have been distributed through chaplains FREE of charge. (Chaplains can request bulk copies at any time here).”

There are also links on the site to sign up for free daily e-newletters and devotionals via email.  And you can host a Strength for Service Sunday to raise support for their ministry, as well as support for our troops.

Definitely worth a look! The military, and ministries like this one, need all the support they can get!

Painfully Transparent

I am feeling like such a huge hypocrite today. Who am I kidding? I have been feeling this way for months! I have shied away from even writing here… the pain was so harsh, the shame so deep. So today is the day that I pull back the curtain… Brace yourself. PTSD is a monster.  [...]

Half My Heart Is In…

If you have been anywhere near a military town, or have ever known anyone in the military, chances are you have seen that bumper sticker… the one that says “Half my heart is in…” usually Iraq or Afghanistan these days.  Unless you have been the one with the bumper sticker, though, chances are you truly [...]

Resentment vs. Pride

Image via Wikipedia I never wanted to be a military wife.  It never even crossed my mind, until I was one.  Even then, I held dearly to the hope that my husband would be released from duty and life would be normal for us.  Military life, the Army way of life, was not my idea [...]

Preparing for Deployment

Image by The National Guard via Flickr We had only been remarried for a short eight weeks when Hubby deployed to Afghanistan the first time.  I was beyond unprepared for that deployment!!  When we remarried in June 2002, Hubby was on track to receive an “early release” from his contract in order to attend school [...]

My Husband, My Hero

Married far too young, we didn’t know how to love – at least not the long-lasting kind of love.  Divorced too quickly, we had no idea that our story was not finished yet. He is my best friend, my strength, and my greatest challenge. Too much alike for things to always go smoothly.  Just different [...]
